Grab a paddle and embark on an unforgettable kayak journey to the emblematic Vila Franca do Campo Islet. Located about 1km off the south coast of São Miguel Island, the protected volcanic “Ilhéu de Vila Franca” is a safe haven for various bird species, and a true natural wonder. You will venture out into the Atlantic Ocean with our local nature guide, kayaking towards the islet, exploring its hidden caves and swim in the crystal clear waters of the circular crater lagoon before paddling back to the island of São Miguel. As the number of daily visitors is limited to 400, kayaking to the islet is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Our “sit-on-top” kayaks are capable of holding 2 adults and 2 children.

Feel free to sleep in and take it easy. Or add another experience to your itinerary. Our suggestion: Book a guided hike up to Lagoa do Fogo (left) and witness the beauty of the island’s central volcanic crater. Enjoy stunning views of the south coast, including the Vila France islet and discover the various endemic plant species along the way, such as the Azorean blueberry. If you’d rather like to take it easy but still experience Lagoa do Fogo, you can also book a Jeep Tour!

You will spend the day in Furnas, a little village with a beautiful lagoon known for its volcanic activity. You will start with an easy circular walk around the lagoon, that is covered in lush green nature, taking less than 3 hours to complete. You will visit the parish, where you will see fumaroles, boiling water on the ground and taste the water from the famous springs. For lunch, you will taste the Cozido das Furnas, a local dish with a variety of meats and vegetables, slow-cooked underneath the ground by the volcanic vapors. Unwind with a relaxing visit to the Terra Nostra botanical garden, including the natural thermal spring

Let the thrills and adrenaline of canyoning sweep you away. Explore magnificent streams and waterfalls using different canyoning techniques, such as zip-lines, jumps (optional), rappels, and water slides. Undoubtedly one of the most thrilling and adventurous ways to experience Azorean nature up-close in one of the most beautiful locations on the island. Suitable for most ages and all levels of canyoning experience whether you’re a beginner or have done canyoning before, this will be a thrilling experience for all.

Feel free to sleep in and take it easy. Maybe spend the day at a nearby beach and have a lovely lunch by the sea or stroll through the streets of the city discovering the various artisanal shops in the historic center of Ponta Delgada.
